America’s Dictator: Capitalism

Nobody in the entire United States of America has as much power as the controllers of capitalism do. The capitalist class are the ones that dictate who is going to be poor, how the country is run, and who the US will trade with. They could use this power for the good of the country, or they can continue on their current trend of only caring about themselves. The economic elite want to control as much wealth as they possibly can. They love driving up the income inequality which helps pad their paycheck. Their greed is leading to one of the largest wealth gaps America has ever faced. James Madison predicted that the economy would collapse if a small group controlled too much wealth. He stated:

…The day will come when our Republic will be an impossibility. It will be impossibility because wealth will be concentrated in the hands of a few. A republic cannot stand upon bayonets, and when that day comes, when the wealth of the nation will be in the hands of a few, then we must rely upon the wisdom of the best elements in the country to readjust the laws of the nation to the changed conditions.

James Madison warned against allowing a small group of people to control the wealth of an entire country. The best elements of a country should be its democracy. Sadly, American politicians only care about money. If it’s going to make them richer, they’ll support any cause. It doesn’t matter if it is going to make part of the population worse off . The economic elite provide money toward politicians in order to dictate changes in the policies of the country. These changes will benefit the rich and allow them to continue to make more money.

The controllers of capitalism are also shipping American jobs away to other countries. The cheap labor of the underdeveloped countries allows the companies to cut down on production costs. The extra profit can go into the wallet of the upper class. They don’t care that they are putting American workers out of jobs. The exploitation of workers allow the economic elite to reap the reward.

In the video Obama discusses some of the causes of the income inequality. He addresses that globalization is a key issue. Other countries around the world are catching up. He also talks about another essential issue. The upper class are feeling a rise in the economy, but the rest of the workforce isn’t. Millions of Americans are not benefiting from the way the economy is currently operating. It is time to make a change. The upper class needs to stop exploiting the rest of society.

The country is in a new gilded age. There will need to be some type of uprising to make a change. Those who are being affected, will need to make a stand. The majority of America needs to recognize this as one of the most pressing issues of the present day. They need to realize that the longer they prolong this change, the worse the economy is going to become. People will need to refuse to work unless the income distribution is more equal and spread out between the classes. Wealth can’t be concentrated in the hands of the few. People in America need to unite to fight against the current economy.

incomeeeeeeeRocky Mountain Mike’s statement relates to the Baltimore riots that occurred this week. If the majority of America finally realizes the state of the economy, riots will occur across the entire country. People will stand up against the controllers of capitalism and demand change.

The new changes will bring an end to the wealth gap of America and an opportunity to fix the economy. The changes need to happen soon, or the country may not be able to escape the current predicament.
